Fulfillment service providers and operators of electronic marketplaces are defined as new players (Section 3 (11) a, b and c ElektroG3). According to the ElektroG, fulfillment service providers are actors who offer at least two of the following services in the distribution of electrical and electronic equipment in which they have no ownership: Warehousing, packaging, addressing or shipping.
Fulfillment service providers are obligated to verify that manufacturers or manufacturers’ authorized representatives have properly registered with the stiftung elektro-altgeräte register (ear).
If a manufacturer is not registered or not properly registered, fulfillment service providers may not perform warehousing, packaging, addressing, and shipping with respect to electrical or electronic equipment from that manufacturer.
